Personal Care Assistant 

2026 Youth Leadership Forum

Partners for Youth with Disabilities (PYD) prepares young people with disabilities for meaningful, self-directed lives and to help employers build workplaces where people communicate clearly, work efficiently, and feel supported. PYD emphasizes the need for a holistic ecosystem where both youth and institutions are aligned, ready, and resourced to thrive together. 

Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Positions are currently available at the Massachusetts Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) hosted by PYD  and scheduled to take place at Emerson College, MA on June 25-29 2026. PCAs at YLF will aid young people with disabilities (ages 16-21) attending YLF and will work as part of the YLF Team. YLF 

YLF participants will stay overnight and be supported by PCAs and YLF Staff and nursing. General support for YLF youth activities will include participation in and attention to assigned support needs during YLF activities and transitions between the dormitory, cafeteria, classroom and forum spaces in buildings on Emerson College’s campus and Boston Common.  Experience working with youth with disabilities, preferred. Background check required. Covid-19 Vaccination Required.

*Note: A second YLF is coming to Worcester in early August.  We will be hiring for those positions as well once the dates are finalized.*

Daytime and Overnight positions available.  

Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Provide direct care and general assistance to YLF youth, assigned individually and within YLF Teams of participants. 
  • Provide activities of daily living assistance, as directed by youth, with tasks such as grooming, bathing, other self-care needs, and housekeeping. Support youth in their learning to self-direct their care and appropriately request assistance when needed.
  • Act in a manner that reflects the mission and values of the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). PCAs work to empower youth to advocate for their needs and rights.
  • Remain attentive and available to assist youth as requested throughout the duration of YLF activities;
  • Respond to youth emergency calls, determine which services are needed, and contact the appropriate person(s). Respond appropriately to youth concerns and requests; Communicate participant issues with YLF Staff. 
  • Support and encourage youth socialization with peers attending YLF, rather than primarily with PCAs, in alignment with program goals to expand youth social networks.
  • Maintain open communication with the PCA Supervisor and/or Program Manager regarding any participant issues or incidents that arise. Demonstrate a philosophy of empowerment for youth with disabilities. 
  • Attend job duties in a safe and sanitary manner.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
